Last updated: February 9, 2026

Alea (“we”, “our”, or “the app”) is a dice game score tracker created by Seb Dancer-Michel. Your privacy is important to us. This policy explains what data Alea collects, how it's used, and your choices.

Summary

  • No account required — You can use Alea without signing up or providing any personal information.
  • Data stays on your device — Your games, scores, and preferences are stored locally on your device.
  • Optional cloud sync — If you enable iCloud (iOS) or Google Backup (Android), your data syncs across your devices using your platform's built-in services.
  • No ads, no tracking — Alea does not display advertisements or track you across apps and websites.

Data We Collect

Data You Provide

When you use Alea, you may enter player names and game scores. This data is stored locally on your device and is never transmitted to our servers.

Automatically Collected Data

Crash Reports & Diagnostics: If you opt in to usage analytics in the app settings, Alea may collect anonymous crash reports and basic usage statistics through Sentry. This helps us identify and fix bugs. This data includes:

  • Device type and operating system version
  • App version
  • Crash logs and error messages
  • General usage patterns (screens visited, features used)

This data is anonymized and cannot be used to identify you personally. You can disable analytics at any time in the app settings.

Data We Do NOT Collect

  • Names, email addresses, or contact information
  • Location data
  • Photos, files, or other media
  • Advertising identifiers
  • Data from other apps on your device

Cloud Sync

Alea offers optional cloud synchronization to keep your games and preferences in sync across devices:

  • iOS: Uses iCloud Key-Value Storage, managed by Apple. Data is encrypted and tied to your Apple ID.
  • Android: Uses Android Auto Backup, managed by Google. Data is encrypted and tied to your Google account.

We do not have access to your cloud-synced data. Please refer to Apple's Privacy Policy and Google's Privacy Policy for details on how they handle your data.

Game Sharing

When you share a game via link or QR code, the game data (player names and scores) is encoded in the URL itself. This data is not stored on any server — it's transmitted directly to whoever you share the link with.

Third-Party Services

Alea uses the following third-party services:

Data Retention

Your game data remains on your device until you delete it. You can erase all data at any time using the “Erase all data” option in the app settings.

Children's Privacy

Alea does not knowingly collect any personal information from children. The app is rated 4+ and is suitable for all ages.

Your Rights

Since your data is stored locally on your device, you have full control:

  • Access: View your games and history in the app
  • Delete: Remove individual games or erase all data in settings
  • Export: Share your games via link or QR code
